The Sentinella is a free bag-sized publication,
which is distributed across the Axarquia region.
It has a readership of 21,000 and particularly
strong mountain presence.
Previously known as The Sentinel, the magazine
has been established for five years. Until recently
it was edited by Colin Checkley, who was known for
his witty way with words.
Unfortunately Colin passed away in May 2004 after
a short illness.
The magazine was reborn in September 2004 as
The Sentinella, which reflects the new editor’s
female status. The magazine itself is A5 size,
handy as it fits in people’s bags, hence acting as a
source of ‘info on the go.’
The front and back pages are in colour and there
are at least twenty colour pages in the centre of the
magazine. The rest is black and white. Each month
the publication covers information such as the history
of different regions, local news and area write- ups.
This is coupled with light-hearted snippets, including
useless facts, a prize quiz and Spanish lessons.
